I’ve got a few baking experiments to attempt in the very near future so stay tuned for those!
Top of my list is to make some friands, because I bought some friand tins on sale about two months ago but haven’t even used them yet.
Next I’ll be making some type of cupcakes as my contribution to my Grandma’s 80th Birthday celebrations. Not sure what they’ll be yet but I have exactly 10 days to decide.
I’m also going to attempt to make some individual tarts of some sort because I bought some cute little tart tins recently and would like to try them out!
I’m wondering if people would be interested if I posted from time to time about the equipment I use? Similar to the post I made about my patty pan obsession. Just a thought since I’m not baking as much at the moment. (Don’t mind me, just typing my thoughts as they come out haha)
I recently decided to subscribe to Disney Cakes & Sweets magazine because I kept seeing the advert on TV and thought I might enjoy it. So I went to the newsagent and discovered they were up to about issue 4 or 5 which wasn’t helpful at all, so I had a look online and subscribed from there. The magazine is really good so far because it tells you the difficulty of each recipe and gives simple step-by-step instructions with photos. It also has all different kinds of tutorials such as working with fondant and making all different types of icings (royal icing, buttercream etc).
Last weekend I made the giant Mickey and Minnie mouse biscuits to give to my younger brother and sisters and they are probably the cutest things I’ve ever made! The recipe was simple to follow, the only annoying thing was the amount of chilling the recipe told me to do. Chill the dough for an hour after you first make it, then roll it out and cut out the shapes then chill again for another half an hour. Ugh. I couldn’t be bothered chilling the dough once I’d cut out the shapes, I chilled one batch for about 10-15 minutes while I cut out another batch and it didn’t make any difference to the bakes at all. If the weather was hot I would have definitely chilled the dough but since it’s winter here now I didn’t bother.
I’ve only had this blog for a week and had no idea that anyone would actually read it, let alone nominate me for an award after reading it! To be honest I’m not really sure what this whole award is about but anyway I would like to thank Yum’e’licious for nominating me! I love your blog, all the things you make look really great 🙂
The rules for this award:
1. Thank the person who nominated me
2. Answer questions given to me by the person who nominated me
3. Nominate 5-10 people for the award
4. Ask about 10 questions the nominees have to answer
5. Comment on the nominee’s blog to let them know they received the award
As part of the Liebster Award, the nominee must answer a few questions that their nominator asked them. This gives readers a chance to learn more about the blogger. Here are my answers to the questions I’ve been asked:
1. Why did you start your blog?
I started this blog as a place for me to talk about the things I’ve baked, rather than just taking a photo of whatever I’ve made and posting it on Facebook.
2. What is your favorite dessert?
My favourite dessert is probably Banoffee Pie! If you’ve never tried Banoffee Pie, you’re missing out because it’s delicious!
3. Sweet or Savoury?
4. What is the last thing you cooked?
I cooked pork rashers, chicken tenderloins and vegetable/noodle stir fry for dinner last night.
5. What is your favorite color?
My favourite colour is red.
6. The beach or mountains?
I’ve never been to any mountains, but I hate the beach so I’m going to say mountains!
7. One dish you hate Eating/Cooking?
Porridge. I hate the taste and the texture and it doesn’t even look very appetising, ugh.
8. What’s the last movie that made you cry?
I’m not sure to be honest. Maybe a Disney movie, but it was most likely Love Actually because I cry EVERY TIME even though I’ve seen it a million times haha (happy tears, gosh)
9. What’s your favourite Cuisine?
I don’t really have a particular favourite, but I really like Indian and Mexican food.
10. Favorite quote?
“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that.”- Albus Dumbledore
(I’ve loved Harry Potter for as long as I can remember, and that quote has always stuck with me!)
Cooking With A Wallflower
The Cheergerm & the Silly Yak
